Kayla is an associate in the Business Law Department, and a member of the healthcare practice group. In her practice, Kayla advises health care entities on a variety of regulatory and transactional matters, including issues relating to the Medicare and Medicaid programs; federal fraud and abuse laws; the Affordable Care Act; the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA); and compliance. Kayla also has experience counseling accountable care organizations (ACOs), and has a deep understanding of the rules affecting these providers.
Before Edwards Wildman
Prior to joining Edwards Wildman, Kayla was an associate in the healthcare practice of a large, international law firm. She advised hospitals, health systems, managed care plans, insurers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and other healthcare clients on complex state and federal regulatory issues. Kayla also counseled clients in connection with internal and government investigations relating to the anti-kickback statute, the False Claims Act, the Stark law, and other laws and regulations relating to billing and coding.

Kayla is actively involved with the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), and serves on the organization's Advisory Council on Diversity.

Edwards Wildman Team Leads Merger of Vision Insurance Companies
In July 2013, an Edwards Wildman deal team led by Andrew Hughes and Paul Mahoney of our Providence office represented clients Nautic Partners, a private equity firm with more than $2.5 billion of capital under management, and Superior Vision, a Nautic Partners portfolio company based in California, in Superior Vision's execution of a merger agreement providing for the acquisition of Block Vision, a Maryland-based national provider of vision insurance coverage.
