Michèle Friel practises in the areas of commercial contracts, corporate financing, financial services and general banking law. Ms. Friel has acted as counsel to various borrowers as well as domestic and foreign lending institutions in the context of major financing transactions, including syndicated financings.
During her law studies, Ms. Friel clerked for Justice Nicole Duval-Hesler of the Quebec Superior Court and worked for two summers as a cabinet liaison officer at the Canadian International Development Agency.

· SGF Industriel Inc. in connection with a subordinated loan in a principal amount of US$25 million made available to Camoplast Solideal Inc.
· Bank of America, N.A. in connection with the financing of Sally Holdings LLC and its subsidiaries (including Beauty Systems Group (Canada), Inc.) with respect to credit facilities in an aggregate principal amount of US$400 million
· Tranzyme Pharma Inc. and its US affiliate, Tranzyme, Inc., with respect to a US$13 million debt financing in Tranzyme
· Bank of America, N.A. (acting through its Canada branch) in connection with a $220 million Canadian facility for the financing of Kohl & Frisch Limited
· The senior lenders and bondholders in connection with the $1.2 billion financing of a new McGill University Health Centre hospital to be located on the Glen Campus in downtown Montréal
· Imvescor Restaurant Group Inc. in connection with a $24.5 million senior secured financing by GE Canada Equipment Financing G.P.
· Quebecor World Inc. (now World Color Press Inc.) in its successful emergence from creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act(CCAA) in Canada and, in respect of certain U.S. subsidiaries, Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code
· Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in connection with the restructuring under the CCAA of the $32 billion third-party structured asset-backed commercial paper market in Canada
· The Syndicate of lenders in connection with secured credit facilities in an aggregate principal amount of up to approximately C$1.1 billion made available to Nouvelle Autoroute 30, s.e.n.c. to finance the Highway 30 construction project
· Cirque du Soleil in connection with the sale of a 20% interest to Istithmar World and Nakheel
