Michèle Lefaivre is an associate in our Business Law Group in Montréal.
Her practice focuses on corporate law, concentrating on public and private companies active in various sectors, including the technology and communications sectors. She deals mainly with commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, take-over bids, outsourcing and financing. She also provides legal advice on provincial and federal regulatory issues.
Ms. Lefaivre's recent experience includes:
· advising La Coop fédérée in its acquisition of all of the equity interests of Agrico Canada Ltd.;
· acting as legal counsel to Desjardins Financial Corporation in its $443 million acquisition of Western Financial Group;
· acting as legal counsel to General Mills in its acquisition of a 51 percent controlling interest in Yoplait S.A.S, and a 50 percent interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands, from PAI Partners and Sodiaal in a transaction valued at approximately US$1.2 billion;
· advising IPL Inc. in connection with its amalgamation with certain affiliates of Novacap and the Fonds de solidarité FTQ;
· advising various public and private leading technology companies in recent share or asset purchase deals and amalgamations;
· acting as legal counsel to several leading Canadian financial institutions in connection with the negotiation of various outsourcing agreements.
Ms. Lefaivre received her LLB from the Université de Montréal in 2006, and completed a graduate diploma in North American Common Law in 2007. She was called to the Québec bar in 2008.
She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Young Bar Association of Montréal.
