Michele McCain joined Adams and Reese in 2007 after seven years of representing clients in the oil and gas industry. She focuses primarily in drilling title opinions, division order title opinions, oil and gas litigation and environmental matters through the firm's Energy and Environmental practice team. Michele also has a great deal of experience representing clients with issues concerning forestry, real estate and zoning. She is also a member of the firm's Real Estate and Forestry teams.
Michele has published articles and spoken before bar, civic and public groups concerning oil and gas, forestry and environmental matters. She was named a Partner in 2009.
Her significant contributions and honors include:
· Representing owners and others in real estate disputes involving title, easements, access, water, eminent domain and environmental issues.
· Negotiating surface use agreements for pipelines, well sites, access roads and seismic operations.
· Being named as one of the Top 10 of Mississippi's Leading Business Women by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2010.
· Being named as a Rising Star for her Energy and Environmental practice by the Mid-South Super Lawyers publication in 2010.
· Serving as the first woman President of the Mississippi Oil and Gas Lawyer's Association in 2005 and consistent representation on its Board of Directors.
· Facilitating the 12th Triennial Mississippi Oil and Gas Law Seminar in Jackson as Co-chair.
· Winning the Copeland, Cook, Taylor & Bush Appellate Advocacy Competition in which she was chosen as Best Oral Advocate, and winning the August A. Rendigs National Products Liability Competition and the Judge Robert G. Gillespie Award for Oral Advocacy while attending the Mississippi College School of Law.
In her free time, Michele enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, Taylor and Caroline.
