Miles C. Gerberding is in the Fort Wayne, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and now serves of counsel (retired).
His practice included representation of a significant company which distributes goods throughout the United States and in some foreign jurisdictions. He also represented closely held businesses and assisted individuals with transfer tax planning and succession planning for businesses. He is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel, the American Bar Foundation and the Indiana Bar Foundation. He is a past president of the Indiana State Bar Association and has chaired its sections on taxation and business law. He chaired the Indiana delegation to the American Bar Association House of Delegates for seven years and served in the House for 16 years.
Mr. Gerberding received his degree in economics and business law and his J.D. from Indiana University. He has served as president and director of numerous community, cultural, charitable, and educational organizations and chaired the United Way campaign for Allen County.
Mr. Gerberding practiced law in Fort Wayne, Indiana from 1956 to 1997. He was previously a partner in two other firms and joined Barnes & Thornburg when the firm opened its Fort Wayne office in December 1985.
Mr. Gerberding is admitted to practice in the states of Indiana and Michigan, where he maintains a personal office in Frankfort.
