Many of the firm's attorneys come to the profession with prior careers already established in their areas of expertise, and, and more than half of the firm's attorneys are litigators. In just recent months, six of the firm's attorneys were chosen "Best of the Bar" in a joint effort by the State Bar of New Mexico and the New Mexico Business Weekly (May 2009), listing more Modrall Sperling attorneys than from any other law firm in the state. Within the firm's current ranks are a former president of the American Bar Association, former members of the University of New Mexico Board of Regents, two former U.S. Attorneys for the State of New Mexico, and the in-coming president of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Association. Two founders of Modrall Sperling served as Justices of the New Mexico Supreme Court.
