Biography

Morey has nearly 30 years of experience in Labor and Employment law. His clients include local, national and international employers whom he represents on a variety of matters such as policy and guideline development , personnel issues, union-related activities, administrative law proceedings and litigation when necessary.

Morey works with his clients to develop personnel policies, employee handbooks and noncompete agreements, and counsels them on WARN act planning and other compliance standards. He also advises his clients on personnel matters including wage and hour, discrimination and employee discipline and discharge.

In addition to employment matters, Morey advises clients on union avoidance planning, union elections, collective bargaining agreements and unfair labor practice proceedings. Prior to relocating his practice to Orlando, Morey represented management in the hotel and gaming industry in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Morey has extensive experience litigating employment claims before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court.

Morey's legal and professional experience includes former Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group at his previous firm and Lead Labor and Employment Law Counsel at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Inc.and Sea World. In addition to his legal position at Sea Word, Morey also served as the Administrative Vice-President for the Orlando tourism attraction.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity ("DEO") has announced that the minimum wage in Florida will increase by 36 cents from $7.31 to $7.67 per hour on January 1, 2012. The minimum wage for employees who earn tips will increase by 36 cents from $4.29 to $4.65 per hour.
