Practice/Industry Group Overview

Morris Polich & Purdy’s Construction Law practice is committed to serving the construction industry. Many of our construction attorneys have studied and/or practiced in the construction industry, giving them a unique perspective on litigating and resolving construction disputes. Our construction attorneys are also members of and actively involved in a large number of major industry organizations.

MPP helps clients both avoid and resolve construction disputes. Our multi-faceted approach includes providing advice on contract and risk management strategies, working to quickly and efficiently resolve disputes short of litigation and, when necessary, providing aggressive litigation representation.

As the construction industry has changed over the decades, MPP’s Construction Law practice has similarly evolved. Since the Firm’s inception in 1969, MPP has been at the forefront in shaping the construction legal landscape and has represented many of the nation’s largest and best known construction firms.

Among our other qualifications and accomplishments, we are retained by numerous national and international insurance carriers to represent their construction industry insureds in episodic losses involving substantial injuries, loss of life and extensive property damage. Also, we have written and spoken extensively on the subject of construction law, including risks and liability in the construction industry.

Contractors and Construction Managers

MPP has represented contractors for over 40 years, going back to the Firm's inception, as our first client was a major California highway contractor owned by the family of one of the Firm’s founders. Since then, MPP has continued to represent prime contractors and subcontractors, as well as material and equipment suppliers in matters ranging from contract disputes, bid protests and mechanic’s liens, to jobsite accidents and construction defect litigation. As project delivery systems have evolved, our expertise has expanded to include newer disciplines, such as construction managers and design-build contractors.

Owners and Developers

MPP has represented owners and developers, both public and private, in projects from inception to completion. Because of our intimate knowledge of the entire construction process, we are particularly skilled at working with project designers and contractors to best protect the owner/developers’ interests and assure project success. Our services include preparation of the master agreements which define the structure of the project, intervention during the course of construction to avoid or resolve issues which threaten project success, and aggressive representation of our clients’ interests in the event of litigation.
