About this office:
Opened in April 1998, the firm's Beijing office supports an established and steadily expanding Asia practice. Morrison & Foerster is one of a limited number of U.S. firms officially licensed by the Chinese Ministry of Justice. Prior to the establishment of the Beijing office, Morrison & Foerster had been extensively involved in Chinese legal matters since opening its Hong Kong office in 1983. The firm opened a third office in China August 2003 in Shanghai. The firm's China based offices continue to work closely together to service international clients, with business interests in the People's Republic of China (PRC) as well as to advise on financing, investment and other legal matters for Chinese companies with respect to their international activities.
While our lawyers in Beijing represent a wide range of clients, they have particular expertise in working with technology based PRC companies and investors active in China's technology industries. Our Beijing office has significant experience working on international securities offerings by PRC telecommunications and finance companies and China-direct investment projects. The firm's Beijing based lawyers also handle arbitration and intellectual property matters.
The firm is honored to have been retained as international legal counsel to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the XXIX Olympiad in connection with its activities for the 2008 Summer Games.
