Nancy A. Sullivan is a partner in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where she is a member of the firm's Compensation and Benefits, and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) Practice Groups. Ms. Sullivan has more than 25 years of experience as a business advisor, specializing in the area of ERISA and employee benefits generally.
Ms. Sullivan has over 25 years of experience partnering with businesses of all sizes on a wide range of employee benefit matters, including retirement, ESOP, executive compensation, and welfare benefit plan design, fiduciary responsibility, and the implementation and management of employee benefit programs. She has particular interest and expertise in assisting businesses with fiduciary and technical compliance required under their plans. She has significant experience assisting companies with matters involving the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service.
Ms. Sullivan received her B.A. cum laude from Moorhead State University in 1977. She received her J.D. with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1980.
Ms. Sullivan is active in a number of community organizations, including Pathways to Success, Minnesota, board member; Hope Family Community Services, volunteer; Cristo Rey High School Mentorship Program, volunteer; and Ruben Lindh Agency, and serves as the pro bono legal services coordinator for the Minneapolis Barnes & Thornburg office. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Directors and does pro bono work for the Childrens Law Center.
Ms. Sullivan is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association, Employee Benefits Sections and Women in the Law Committee; the Minnesota State Bar Association, Diversity and Community Service Committees; and the Midwest Pension Conference, Annual Conference Planning Committee. She is admitted to practice in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota.
