Nancy E. Fraser practices primarily Family Law in the firm's Central Village office. With over twelve years of experience handling disputes within the family dynamic, Attorney Fraser utilizes within her practice the skills she attained as a family counselor while employed in the academic field. As a mediator and advocate, she is able to effectively pinpoint the essence of the emotional issues clients are often consumed with and present viable solutions to rather sensitive matters. Attorney Fraser also represents children in contested custody matters either as a Guardian ad Litem or an Attorney for the minor child.
While the majority of Attorney Fraser's practice is within the Domestic Law category, she is well versed in many different areas of law and represents clients with land use and zoning matters, real estate matters, as well as civil litigation matters inclusive of Appellate advocacy. Attorney Fraser's recently published Appellate Court decision is EquiCredit Corporation of Connecticut v. David S. Kasper, Et Al, 996 A2d. 1243 (2010). As a former member of the Town of Pomfret Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Commission, Attorney Fraser acquired an understanding of the concerns many towns face when dealing with developments and change within the municipality. She is able to apply that knowledge to her land use cases and better serve the clients when presenting before town commissions.
Attorney Fraser received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Adelphi University in 1990. While a student at Adelphi University, she served as President of the Student Government during a much debated and publicized faculty strike in which she advocated for the student body. Attorney Fraser credits this experience as the catalyst for her legal career. Upon graduating from University, she attended a Post Baccalaureate Paralegal program from which she received an Honors Certificate. She then proceeded to law school and attended New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts and received her Juris Doctor in 1998. Attorney Fraser is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a member of the Windham County Bar Association.
Attorney Fraser is also a member of the State of Connecticut's Statewide Grievance Committee and is currently serving her second term. In addition to the Grievance Committee, Attorney Fraser assists the Windham Judicial District by serving as a Special Master for limited contested and fully contested matters. As an active participant in the Special Master's program, Attorney Fraser is able to employ her mediation skills by helping other attorneys and their clients reach an amicable resolution during tumultuous and troubled times. Recently, Attorney Fraser has been named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star Connecticut 2011 as well as Super Lawyers New England Rising Star 2011.
Attorney Fraser resides in Woodstock, Connecticut, and as an avid runner is currently training for her next half marathon.
