Nicole Stephansen concentrates her practice in the areas of bankruptcy and financial restructuring, representing debtors, creditors, lenders, and strategic investors in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Nicole has participated in restructurings across a variety of industries, including shipping, chemical, energy, petroleum, real estate, and retail. Specifically, she played a key role in the restructuring of Lyondell Chemical Company, Trailer Bridge Inc., Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc., Caribbean Petroleum Corporation, and Vertis Communications, Inc., among others. Nicole also contributes to Cadwalader's pro bono efforts with an emphasis in immigrant rights.
Nicole received her J.D., magna cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law, where she served on the American University Law Review, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Miami University. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
