Nicole M. Zeiss has 16 years of litigation experience. Ms. Zeiss focuses her practice on negotiating and documenting complex class action settlements and obtaining the required court approval of the settlements, notice procedures and payments of attorneys' fees. She has expertise in analyzing the fairness and adequacy of the procedures used in class action settlements. Ms. Zeiss was part of the Labaton Sucharow team that successfully litigated the $185 million settlement in In re Bristol-Myers Squibb Securities Litigation. She also played a significant role in In re Monster Worldwide, Inc. Securities Litigation ($47.5 million settlement). Ms. Zeiss also has litigated on behalf of investors who have been damaged by fraud in the telecommunications, hedge fund and banking industries. Prior to joining Labaton Sucharow, Ms. Zeiss worked for MFY Legal Services, practicing in the area of poverty law. She also worked at Gaynor & Bass practicing general complex civil litigation, particularly representing the rights of freelance writers seeking copyright enforcement. Ms. Zeiss maintains a commitment to pro bono legal services by continuing to assist mentally ill clients in a variety of matters-from eviction proceedings to trust administration. She received a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Ms. Zeiss earned a B.A. from Barnard College. She is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
