Oliver W. Gushee, Jr.

Mr. Gushee focuses his practice on exploration, development, and production of mineral properties. Throughout his career, Mr. Gushee has been an influential speaker and author on legal issues impacting the mining industry. He was a speaker and contributing author to an institute that published a definitive legal research manual on an element of mining law, entitled Annual Assessment Work. He also prepared and presented a paper entitled Drafting Practical Royalty Clauses for the Mining Lease at the 20th Annual Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Institute. At the Institute on Natural Resources for Legal Assistants and Land Support Personnel, Mr. Gushee presented a paper titled Mineral Leasing. He is also the co-author of Chapter 21, "Post Leasing Conveyances of Federal Title," in the Law of Federal Oil and Gas Leases. Other presentations on oil and gas, mining and other facets of mineral law have been made at Utah State Bar meetings and industry organizations, such as the Utah Association of Professional Landmen and the American Association of Professional Landmen. For many years, Mr. Gushee served on the Tax and Legislative and the Public Land Committees of the Utah Mining Association. In addition, he was a past Chairman of the Board of the Utah Mining Association.
