Pat Lane is a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property Departments. He focuses his practice on intellectual property, commercial and product liability cases throughout the United States, including dispute resolution.
Pat began his career with Dinsmore as an associate in 1980 after graduating from law school that same year. He was elected parter in 1987. In 1995 Pat joined the legal department of Procter & Gamble as Associate General Counsel where, between 1995 and 2008, he headed both Global Intellectual Property Litigation and North American Litigation for Procter & Gamble. Pat returned to Dinsmore in 2008.
Pat's professional accomplishments include the following:
· Successfully tried a multi-million dollar case for Comair, Inc. involving a plane crash with 8 deaths.
· Successfully tried multiple product liability cases for Cincinnati Incorporated involving machine tools.
· Successfully tried a tax case involving issues of technology obsolescence.
· Successfully co-tried multiple intentional tort cases for Quantum Chemicals involving chemical explosions.
· Successfully co-tried multiple million dollar commercial cases as both Plaintiff and Defendant including getting a record verdict in Hamilton County, Ohio.
· Successfully co-tried a preliminary injunction action involving trademarks for market leading chewing gum brands.
· Member of trial team which successfully tried an antitrust case arising under the Robinson-Patman Act.
· While Procter & Gamble's head of Global Intellectual Property Litigation:
- Managed successful patent trial regarding attack on P&G's billion-dollar drug Actonel.
- Managed successful patent trial regarding infringement of P&G's key diaper patents resulting in $178,000,000 verdict.
- Managed more than a dozen successful patent arbitrations involving key P&G competitors.
- Led more than a dozen successful patent mediations involving key P&G competitors.
- Led numerous successful patent settlements with key P&G competitors including several in excess of $10,000,000.
