Patrick M. Tierney is an associate in the Chicago office of Mayer Brown's Intellectual Property practice. He has experience in intellectual property litigation; trademark prosecution, enforcement and counseling; patent and copyright enforcement and counseling; advertising and brand management; and licensing and restructuring. Additionally, Patrick regularly advises clients on intellectual property issues arising in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and asset-backed financing.
Litigation: Patrick has experience in trademark, copyright, and patent litigation in federal courts and has been involved in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Trademark Prosecution and Enforcement: Patrick manages the trademark portfolios of several clients and has experience in all areas of US and foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance, including preparing and filing trademark applications, trademark clearance, and managing trademark protection and enforcement plans.
Copyright Counseling: Patrick advises clients on copyright protection, registration, enforcement and related issues.
Licensing: Patrick has experience in intellectual property licensing, franchise agreements, and related recordation requirements.
Patrick joined Mayer Brown's Chicago office in 2011. Prior to joining the firm, Patrick served as a markets analyst at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
