Paul D. McGrady, Jr. concentrates his practice at the intersection of information technology and intellectual property, with special emphasis on domain name disputes, CAN-SPAM Disputes, Computer Fraud & Abuse Act disputes, and online copyright and brand identity disputes. Paul is the author of McGrady On Domain Names, the three-volume definitive treatise on domain name law, which is published by Lexis Nexis. He is a veteran of over 200 successful proceedings under the Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution Procedure (UDRP) and related ICANN policies, as well as multiple litigations brought under the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). He also has experience employing the formal and informal domain dispute mechanisms in other jurisdictions, including China, the United Kingdom, Poland, Canada, the Czech Republic and Romania, among others. He also served as the Director of Operations for a start-up domain name registrar, for which he was able to obtain accreditation by ICANN. Paul provides counsel on technology licensing, technology outsourcing, web site development, online privacy compliance, blogging and compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and CAN-SPAM. Paul also has years of experience in the adoption, prosecution, licensing, and enforcement of traditional trademarks in the United States and throughout the world. Paul served as an adjunct professor of law at DePaul University College of Law and is a frequent lecturer on Internet related aspects of intellectual property. Paul also was formerly in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 retailer concentrating in trademarks, franchising, advertising, and shareholder/member relations.
