Peter H. Beaman

Peter H. Beaman is a member of the firm's Financial Services Section. He focuses his practice on financial transactions in the health care, higher education and government industries.

Peter focuses his practice particularly in specialized and structured transactions such as acquisition financings, inverse floating rate and auction bonds, forward synthetic refundings, swaps and other derivatives, as well as the tax aspects of such transactions.

Examples of his recent matters include:

· Serving as bond counsel for a university in connection with approximately $290 million in financings.

· Serving as bond counsel for Carnegie Mellon University's $44 million financing through the Allegheny County Higher Education Building Authority.

· Representing a major Western Pennsylvania health care system in its formation, including the issuing or restructuring of approximately $700 million in outstanding indebtedness.

· Assisting many health care institutions in their financing needs and in transactions involving joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions.

· Representing the Allegheny County Airport Authority in more than $200 million in bond issues and related derivative transactions.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Peter was a partner with a Pittsburgh-based law firm, where he focused his practice on taxation, securities, health law, bond finance and government contracts.

Peter was named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers® list for banking and financial law in 2004, 2005 and 2007. In 2006, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.

He is fluent in French.
