Overview Peter Kochansky is a Director in the Real Estate and Public Law and Policy groups and represents a variety of public and private clients. He focuses his practice on real estate development and public law and policy. Prior to law school, Peter worked for Clinton-Gore '96 and the Democratic National Committee as the Deputy Finance Director for New York and New Jersey. Representative Experience ˇ Represented the MBTA in connection with the acquisition by MassDOT of the South Coast Rail lines from CSX Transportation, and in recent trackage rights and operating agreements with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, Pan Am Railways and other freight railroads. ˇ Guidance of Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority through the successful completion of the procurement of the current $2 billion contract for operation of its commuter rail system, and outside general counsel services with respect to MBTA's commuter rail operation. ˇ Represents developers in securing zoning, permitting, and other public approvals for residential and commercial projects in Boston, including mixed-use projects in Fort Point neighborhood of South Boston and South End and a 23-acre site in the South Boston Seaport area. ˇ Assisted in successfully defending the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority's automated toll collection program against Commerce Clause challenge. ˇ Advised the Turnpike Authority on legal and management structure for the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
