Philip Tortoreti is a shareholder at Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer and a member of Mass Tort and Class Action Team. He concentrates his practice in the areas of consumer class action, mesothelioma, asbestos and toxic exposure litigation, mass torts and pharmaceutical product liability cases. He has represented thousands of asbestos victims for thirty-nine years beginning with the first asbestos cases filed in New Jerseyin 1975. Mr. Tortoreti has also been co-lead counsel in consumer class actions that have generated large settlements for consumers nationwide, including Extensis, Inc. v. Hewlett-Packard Company, Kim v. Sony Computer Entertainment and Glenz v. RCI, Inc., and he is also co-lead counsel in pending class actions. He was selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 lists.
Mr. Tortoreti has been practicing law for over forty years. He was the Managing Editor of the Rutgers-Camden Law Journal, and previously worked at Asch, Suss & Tortoreti; Garruto, Galex, and Cantor; Galex, Tortoreti and Tomes; and Tortoreti, Tomes & Callahan.
Among Mr. Tortoreti's association memberships are the New Jersey Bar Association, Middlesex County Bar Association, Middlesex County Trial Lawyers Association, Assoication of the Federal Bar of New Jersey, American Association for Justice and New Jersey Association for Justice. Through the American Association for Justice (formerly known was The Association of Trial Lawyers of America), Mr. Tortoreti participated in The Trial Care Pro Bono Project providing Legal Representation for Victims Before The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2011, which was the largest single pro bono project in the history of American jurisprudence.
