| Biography | Mr. Brown is a counsel in the firm. He has been involved in various regulatory matters relating to international commerce and trade, including the application of U.S. laws and regulations that impose sanctions on trade with, or investment in, targeted countries, U.S. export and import controls, and payments to foreign officials. Mr. Brown has represented corporate and individual investors in both the international and domestic markets in the acquisition of direct or indirect investments in the United States. He has assisted clients in presenting positions to congressional committees and U.S. government agencies. He also has worked on the interpretation and analysis of legislative and regulatory developments. Before joining the first's Washington, D.C. office, Mr. Brown practiced law in New York, where he also served as an administrative assistant to the late Marietta Tree in her capacity as a delegate to the 1967 New York State Constitutional Convention. He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he was special assistant to Robert C. Wood, Under Secretary and then Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Brown has written extensively on legal issues relating to U.S. economic sanctions and other regulatory programs relating to international commerce. |
