BAR PROFILE
The Arkansas Bar Association is a not for profit voluntary professional association of over 5,000 Arkansas lawyers which was founded in 1898. Its purposes include improving the administration of justice, assisting the judiciary, providing continuing legal education for attorneys through programs and publications, helping educate the public about the American judicial system and their rights and responsibilities, and promoting lawyers' adherence to high ethical standards, a sense of public responsibility and working with each other in a cordial, fair and professional manner.

ADMINISTRATIVE LAW SECTION
The Administrative Law Section shall promote the objects of the Association within the field of administrative law, including all related federal and state laws. It pledges to promote professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law.

AGRICULTURAL LAW The Agricultural Law Section shall promote the objects of the Association within the field of agricultural law, including all related federal and state laws. It pledges to promote professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law.

ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Promotes the objectives of the Association within the particular field of alternative dispute resolution, and to do any and all matters to inform and promote a better understanding among attorneys engaged in this field.

BUSINESS LAW SECTION

Responsible for promoting interest in and enhancing knowledge of law affecting business and business organizations. Conducts educational programs and assists in drafting proposed legislation which affects business.

CIVIL LITIGATION SECTION
The Civil Litigation Section promotes the objectives of the Association within the field of civil litigation, including all related federal and state laws. It promotes professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law. The Civil Litigation Section was established from a merger of the Association's Appellate Practice Committee, Civil Procedure Committee, and Federal Procedures and Legislation Committee in June 2001.

CONSTRUCTION LAW SECTION

The Construction Law Section shall promote the objects of the Association within the field of construction law, including all related federal and state laws. It pledges to promote professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law.

CORPORATE & IN-HOUSE COUNSEL SECTION

Promotes professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys who focus their practice on a single or small group of corporate clients, or who serve as in-house counsel for a corporation or business entity.

CRIMINAL LAW SECTION
Promotes the objectives of the Association within the particular field of Criminal Law, and to do any and all matters to inform and promote a better understanding among attorneys engaged in this field.

Promotes the objectives of the Association within the area of debtor/creditor rights.

DISABILITY LAW SECTION
The Disability Law Section shall promote the objects of the Association within the field of disability law, including Social Security Law and including all related federal and state laws. It pledges to promote professionalism, excellence, and understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law.

ELDER LAW SECTION
The Elder Law Section serves as a resource for attorneys entering the growing field of elder law.
Dues: $20

ENVIRONMENTAL LAW SECTION

Reviews state and federal regulations to determine the impact of environmental law on law practice in this field and provides environmental interests and advocates reforms in law; and endeavors to keep its members informed of current legal developments, all as they affect environmental law.

FAMILY LAW SECTION
Improves the administration of justice in the field of family law by study, conferences and the publication of reports and articles with respect to both legislation and case law.
Dues: $10

FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS LAW SECTION
Provides a means for a closer association among lawyers representing financial institutions; to promote the consideration, research and solution of legal problems and advocate reforms in law; and to endeavor to keep its members informed of current legal developments all as they affect financial institutions.

GOVERNMENT PRACTICE SECTION
Promotes the objects of the Association within the particular field of public law, through its practitioners, both in public and private practice, and to that end to promote professionalism, further excellence, and create a better understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in these fields of law.

HEALTH LAW SECTION
Provides continuing legal education for lawyers working in the health law field and provides a networking opportunity for an exchange of information and documents among members.

HISPANIC LAWYERS SECTION
The Section shall promote the objectives of the Association as well as professionalism, excellence, understanding and cooperation among attorneys engaged in dealing with legal issues surrounding the Hispanic culture and communities.
Dues: $20

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SECTION
Promotes knowledge of the law relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition and provides a forum in which intellectual property practitioners may share their expertise. In addition, the Section serves as a resource for businesses and individuals seeking information about these areas of the law.

INTERNATIONAL AND IMMIGRATION LAW SECTION
Provides educational programs for lawyers on international and immigration law and provides an opportunity for networking among members.

JUVENILE JUSTICE & CHILD WELFARE SECTION
Promotes the objectives of the Association within the field of Juvenile Law through its practitioners in both the public and private practice.
Dues: $10

LABOR & EMPLOYMENT LAW SECTION
Promotes the objectives of the Association within the field of Labor Relations Law, including civil rights laws and all other laws affecting employer-employee relationships, and to promote professionalism, further excellence and create a better understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in these fields.

NATURAL RESOURCES LAW SECTION
Promotes the objectives of the Association within the field with the mission of creating a better understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in the practice of law encompassing oil and gas and other natural resources law.
Dues: $20

PROBATE AND TRUST SECTION
Promotes the knowledge and interest in the field of probate law; conducts educational programs concerning the various aspects of probate practice; disseminates information on current developments in the field. Maintains liaison with the Association's Section of Taxation, and periodically updates the Arkansas Probate System Handbook. It also assists in drafting proposed legislation within the Section's jurisdiction.

REAL ESTATE LAW SECTION
Promotes knowledge of and interest in the field of real estate law; conducts educational programs dealing with aspects of real estate practice and disseminates information on current developments in these fields. Also assists in creating proposed legislation within the Sectionâ??s jurisdiction.

SECTION OF TAXATION
Promotes the knowledge of and interest in the field of taxation, endeavors to inform and educate members of the Bar with respect to this area of law, and provides members with a more effective means to participate in activities related to these areas of the law.

SECURITIES LAW SECTION
The Securities Section promotes the objects of the Association within the field of securities, including all related federal and state laws. It promotes professionalism, excellence, understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in this field of law.

SOLO, SMALL FIRM & PRACTICE MANAGEMENT SECTION
Provides a forum for single practitioners and small firm lawyers with general practices to network and exchange ideas on current developments and trends specific to their needs and provides members an effective means to participate in activities relating to the practice of law in solo and small firms.
Dues: $10

TORT LAW SECTION
A forum for the study of laws relating to personal injury litigation and other tort litigation, recommending actions which promote justice, and developing continuing legal educations programs.
Dues: $10

WORKERS' COMPENSATION LAW SECTION

Promotes the objectives of the Association within the field of Workers' Compensation Law and works on matters to inform and promote a better understanding among attorneys engaged in this field of law.
Dues: $10

YOUNG LAWYERS SECTION
The purpose of the Section shall be to stimulate the interest of young members of the bar of Arkansas in the objects of the Arkansas Bar Association and to provide such younger members of the bar with a more effective means to participate in activities directed toward improving the administration of justice and promoting the public welfare. Members of the Young Lawyers Section include attorneys who are 36 years or younger or have been in practice 5 years or less.
