The Legal Division of the Special Libraries Association is comprised of 1116 members within an association of 15,000 members. The SLA Legal Division welcomes all professionals interested in legal information. The Legal Division members work primarily in law firm libraries, corporate law libraries, court libraries, academic law libraries, and in other settings.
From its beginnings in 1993, the Legal Division "serves as a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and knowledge among information professionals practicing in law and law related libraries."
The Mission Statement: "The Legal Division intends to play a leading role in Special Libraries Association as it becomes the premier association of the library world.Our profession is our central focus and our activities will promote professional development and competence."
Now in its seventh year, the division maintains a website at www.slalegal.org, an online discussion group, and four Roundtables. It is the fifth largest of 25 divisions in SLA and presents a slate of professional programs at the annual conference, which attracts national speakers.
