Richard Nowak is a Litigation & Dispute Resolution associate in Mayer Brown's Chicago office. His practice focuses on civil litigation in both state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums, including arbitration tribunals and mediation. Richard has represented institutional clients in a wide variety of commercial and financial disputes including matters involving allegations of consumer fraud, tortious interference, breach of contract, as well as violations of the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.

Richard also focuses on labor and employment litigation and has represented clients in both civil litigation and in matters before municipal, state, and federal administrative agencies. Richard's practice includes defending corporate clients against allegations of discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, and other employment-related issues. Richard also provides clients with counsel and advice on the evolving legal issues related to social media, the implementation of social media policies, and the interaction between social media and the National Labor Relations Act.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Richard was an attorney in the Federal Civil Rights Litigation Division of the City of Chicago Department of Law. During that time, he defended the City and Chicago Police Officers in a variety of civil rights actions, including matters alleging constitutional violations and related state law claims. While with the City, Richard also co-chaired four federal jury trials and obtained not liable verdicts for the clients in each case.

Richard is currently a good standing member of the trial bar for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has practiced in Mayer Brown's Chicago office since in 2011.
