    Biography

    Richard J. Bernard is senior counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. His practice concentrates on corporate and financial restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy litigation, secured transactions and financings, general corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and debtors' and creditors' rights. Mr. Bernard represents debtors, creditors, asset acquirers, financial institutions, landlords/lessors, contract counterparties, trustees and official and ad hoc creditors' committees in large-asset bankruptcies, out-of-court workouts and adversary proceedings in numerous industries, including retail, manufacturing, telecommunications, financial services, heavy industry, real estate and hospitality. He is member of the firm's Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations Practice.

    Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Bernard was a partner at Baker Hostetler. Upon receiving his J.D., he clerked for the Honorable Robert A. Mark, United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Florida.

    Mr. Bernard received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.A. in economics from Columbia College, Columbia University.
