| Biography | Richard P. Krinsky is of counsel at Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Washington, D.C. office, where he is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Department and Energy, Telecommunications and Utilities Practice Group. He serves domestic and international clients in the areas of patents and other intellectual property matters; aviation and business issues, including aircraft noise, airport access, obstructions to navigable airspace, and the handling of hazardous materials; and local, state, and federal agency regulatory matters. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a former vice-chairman of the American Bar Association's Airport Law Committee. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Krinsky was a sole practitioner focusing on aviation, business and regulatory matters, as well as entrepreneurial activities. He has published law review articles on aviation issues, is a university lecturer on "Business Operations and Insights," a seminar lecturer on the "Profit Side of Patents," and a developer of educational brochures for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on the subjects of "The Business, Marketing and Licensing Sides of Patents" and "Scam Prevention." As a legal/technical consultant, Mr. Krinsky served in the Chief Counsel's Office at the Federal Aviation Administration, in the Office of Technology Assessment at the U.S. Congress, and as a member of President Reagan's Task Force on Aircraft Crew Complement. Mr. Krinsky has founded, owned, and operated a variety of manufacturing, production, distribution, and sales companies. He has also worked in the mortgage banking and real estate business, and as an engineer and supervisor at the General Electric Company. Mr. Krinsky's military service includes assignments commanding troop units in Vietnam and Korea and service in Europe, the Far East, Panama, the Pentagon, the State Department, and installations throughout the United States. Assignments included work in the fields of guided missiles and nuclear weapons storage. Mr. Krinsky earned his J.D. degree from the Catholic University of America, his M.A. degree in statistics/operations research from the University of Alabama, and his B.S. degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred University. He also holds a commercial pilot's license. |
