Dick Stephens is a Member of firm and based in the Atlanta office. His practice focuses on real estate and banking law and he is a member of the Real Estate & Banking Service Group and a member of the firm's Management Committee. He is listed in the 2007 and 2008 Georgia Super Lawyers magazine, featuring the top five percent of attorneys in the state. Since 1985, Mr. Stephens' practice has focused primarily on commercial real estate matters of all kinds. He has been involved in structuring and closing commercial real estate transactions involving acquisitions, refinances, construction loans, permanent loans, and development loans. The types of properties involved in these matters have ranged from raw land developments to hotels, office buildings, multifamily housing developments, shopping centers and industrial facilities. Associated with these transactions have been issues involving zoning, covenants and restrictions, easements, ground leases, survey problems and title problems. Mr. Stephens has represented all sides in these transactions, including construction and permanent lenders, developers, ground lessors and contractors. Recent Assignments · Represented the lead lender on a $44,000,000 refinance of an office building in North Carolina involving a loan syndication with three other lenders · Acted as Georgia counsel and title agent in connection with the refinance of a large loan involving a South Carolina borrower represented by Nexsen Pruet.
