Richards, Layton & Finger has one of the largest and most active bankruptcy practices in Delaware. The Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group has been involved in virtually every major chapter 11 case in Delaware and in many major cases in the U.S. outside of Delaware. This Group represents debtors, creditors, committees, acquirers, investors and others in these cases.
The Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group's debtor practice encompasses chapter 11 filings, including "free fall," "prearranged" and "prepackaged" reorganizations, as well as out-of-court restructurings. This Group advises businesses in developing legal strategies for their financial rehabilitations, working closely with the client and its financial professionals to achieve an appropriate resolution.

The attorneys in the Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group have acquired significant experience in all aspects of debtor/creditor matters and are intimately familiar with the practice and procedures in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The Group has substantial experience in representing significant debtors in chapter 11 reorganization cases in Delaware.
The Bankruptcy Group also represents major secured and unsecured creditors in chapter 11 cases, including DIP Lenders, trade creditors, landlords and others, including creditors' committees. The Bankruptcy Group represents numerous lenders with respect to distressed credit, advising them regarding cash collateral issues as well as debtor-in-possession financings. This Group also regularly advises clients on purchasing assets out of bankruptcy proceedings.
The Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group handles a wide array of litigation matters in many of the nation's largest bankruptcy cases. This Group's lawyers prosecute and defend all types of chapter 11 claims, preference actions, fraudulent conveyance claims, challenges to acquisitions, and all other litigation arising in the bankruptcy context.
