Risa M. Chalfin is a member of Commercial Litigation department focusing her practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, specifically disputes involving fiduciary duties, shareholder derivative actions, contracts, fraud, and estate/probate litigation. In addition to herNew Jerseystate and federal court practice, Ms. Chalfin also has experience representing clients specifically in New Jersey Chancery Court in a wide-range of matters, including restrictive covenants, will contests, and shareholder disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Chalfin was the law clerk for the Honorable Glenn Berman, Chancery Division of the New Jersey Superior Court. During her term as a law clerk, Judge Berman presided over the State v. Ravi trial. While in law school, Ms. Chalfin interned for the Honorable Barry T. Albin, Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court and the National Football League.
Ms. Chalfin is a Trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Association. She serves on the Young Lawyers Committee for the Middlesex County Bar Association and the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Chalfin is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey.
Ms. Chalfin has been selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in 2015.
In addition to her engagement within the legal community, Ms. Chalfin is also actively involved with the University of Pennsylvania, acting as Co-Administrative Vice President of her class and interviewing prospective students. She is also committed to helping others with her participation with the Anti-Defamation League.
In her free time she enjoys following the New York Yankees and running.
