Robert D. MacGill is a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, resident in the Indianapolis, Indiana office. He has provided services in litigated matters to numerous U.S. and foreign-owned companies in trial and appellate courts throughout the United States and has served a national litigation counsel to five companies during the past 10 years. Mr. MacGill's practice concentrates on commercial cases and class-action claims. His recent practice has focused on antitrust claims, trade secret protections, contract rights and enforcement of insurance policyholder rights. He has been involved in cases in more than 30 states and has defended class actions in 8 states. Mr. MacGill has recently tried cases involving antitrust claims, trade secret issues, the enforceability of operating covenants made by one of the nation's largest retailers, and the asset value of one of the world 's largest accounting firms. His cases have been featured in broadcasts by NBC and CBS on three occasions. Mr. MacGill's trial results have been described in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, London Times, USA Today, The Economist, Indiana Lawyer, and by the Dow Jones News Service. Mr. MacGill has spoken or given demonstrations at seminars throughout the United States on trial techniques and strategies. He served as chairman of the Litigation Department at Barnes & Thornburg for seven years. He and a colleague founded ThemeVision LLC - an entity which provides jury research and advocacy analysis in litigated matters pending throughout the United States. Mr. MacGill is listed in current editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He was recently named one of the 500 leading trial lawyers in the United States by Lawdragon Magazine. BTI Consulting listed him as one of 148 attorneys in the U.S. recognized for best client service to Fortune 1000 clients. Mr. MacGill's undergraduate degree is from Indiana University-Bloomington and his J.D. is from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
