| Biography | Rob is formally a Member in the Corporate & Securities Section, but is also a de facto member in the Intellectual Property Section. He practices in the firm's Boston office. His practice encompasses a wide range of business and financing transactions, as well as the protection and exploitation of intellectual property and data assets. He devotes substantial time to corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as marketing, licensing, distribution, franchising, and manufacturing agreements, with an emphasis on the software and information technology sector for both domestic and foreign companies. Two interrelated areas of concentration are complex licensing and technology transfer transactions, including technology alliances, and the planning, negotiating, and documenting of business process and IT outsourcing transactions. His industry focus includes software and information technology, financial services and health care. He has particular experience counseling clients from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He also counsels clients regarding Internet, multimedia, publishing, and advertising law. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Rob is a member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations. Rob is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University and was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Munich, Germany. He received his M.A. from Middlebury College, where he was valedictorian of his class, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Rob is fluent in German.
