Mr. Schaberg is a senior partner at Shartsis Friese LLP who has had 41 years of litigation experience. His practice consists of complex litigation, with an emphasis on: (1) intellectual property (e.g., patents, trade secrets, trade marks), (2) antitrust (both litigation & counseling on competitive pratices), (3) business torts (e.g., breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition), (4) securities fraud (including SEC enforcement matters), (5) insurance coverage, and (6) construction litigation. He has served as lead trial counsel in significant federal and state trials, as well as having successfully completed a substantial number of arbitration/mediation matters. Mr. Schaberg was recognized in the 2013 edition of Best Lawyers in America in the Commercial Litigation category, and selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2012.

Mr. Schaberg also serves as a Superior Court Pro Tem Settlement Judge and Discovery Referee.

Mr. Schaberg is admitted to practice before the federal and state courts in California, Connecticut and the District of Columbia.

Professional Activities

American Bar Association

Mr. Schaberg has been a member of the ABA since 1971 when he was first admitted to practice before the Connecticut Supreme Court. He is a member of the ABA's Section of Litigation and its Antitrust Section.

Mr. Schaberg has been a member of the Section of Litigation Leadership Group since August 2000. He is currently a member of the Section's Federal Practice Task Force working with the Federal Judicial Conference's Advisory Committee on Civil Rules to consider revisions to The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Mr. Schaberg was Co-Chair of the Business Torts Litigation Committee from 2000 to 2003. He then served as a Co-Director of Division IV (Procedural Committees) from 2003 to 2005. Effective August 2005, Mr. Schaberg began a three year term as a member of the Section of Litigation Council, its governing board. He also was Co-Chair of the Section of Litigation ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco in August 2007. Mr. Schaberg is also the author of Business Torts Litigation, Model Jury Instructions, Chapter Seven: Breach of Fiduciary Duties, (3d edition 1996).

Education

Mr. Schaberg received his undergraduate degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio (B.S. History 1968), and his law degree from Boston College Law School (J.D. 1971).
