In addition to direct suppliers and users of such services, our transportation attorneys' client base includes third-party logistics providers; private fleets; commercial vessels; barge and shipping industries on the Inland Rivers, Great Lakes, and the Gulf, including cargo, employment, Jones Act; collision and environmental issues related to water borne commerce; brokers; insurance specialists, and insurance carriers, in areas such as litigation, transactional, and contractual assignments. The firm's clients represent a cross-section of specialty carriers such as couriers, package, less-than-truckload, truckload, general freight, liquid and dry bulk, temperature-controlled, public transit, barge and maritime, and rail carriers, as well as airlines, foreign and domestic freight forwarders, transportation brokers and industry insurers.

  • Served as lead counsel in the merger of a prominent southern California-based retail delivery carrier with a nationwide parcel carrier
  • Defended a boutique retail-focused motor carrier's worker classification of owner-operators as independent contractors before the National Labor Relations Board
  • Represented major transportation carriers and insurers in local, regional, and national liability litigation and cargo claims litigation
  • Represented a large international airport in a multimillion dollar expansion project
  • Served as lead counsel for a parcel carrier transitioning into the DDU market nationwide
  • Served as counsel for seven large bus companies throughout Ohio
  • Represented a regional transit authority in a case in which the plaintiff alleged injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident with an auto-bus
  • Defended a parcel delivery motor carrier's worker classification of owner-operators as independent contractors before the National Office of the Internal Revenue Service
  • Represented a railway company on a Federal Employee Liability Act action in which an employee alleged permanent and total disability as the result of an injury suffered while employed as a railroad engineer
  • Served as counsel for a transportation company in a claim involving gender discrimination in hiring
  • Provided counsel regarding the acquisition of a parcel of real property owned by a short line railroad
  • Provided negotiation and structuring of a multimillion dollar rail corridor acquisition involving Class I railroads
  • Defended truckload motor carriers against class action lawsuits initiated by Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) and received two dismissals
  • Serve as coordinated counsel for transportation, retail, and business clients involving emergency response protocol catastrophic accidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Advised port authorities and regional transit authorities regarding rail line acquisitions and related matters
  • Represented both buyers and sellers in the acquisition of rail lines and rights-of-way, involving the numerous transactions for both main lines and spurs
