The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
A great offense is the best defense. This is as true in litigation as on the gridiron. An effective litigator in the transportation industry for more than twelve years, Ron T. Capehart has provided outstanding representation to the trucking, maritime, energy and intermodal transportation sectors in complex litigation matters before state and federal courts throughout Texas and elsewhere. Experienced and versatile, Ron counsels clients in trucking, admiralty and maritime, energy, oil and gas, and insurance and bad faith cases in litigation as well as handling arbitrations and mediations. His knowledge of regulations affecting the industry as well as the operations side of the transportation business gives him the ability to better represent and advise transportation clients from the Courtroom to the Boardroom. In addition to his litigation practice, Ron provides effective counsel to business clients on corporate structure, formation and modification, and regulatory compliance issues.
Ron has an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell, the authoritative resource for information on attorneys worldwide. The AV rating is an indication of very high to preeminent legal ability, an exemplary reputation and a well-established practice and is the highest rating in legal ability and professional ethics that a law firm or lawyer can achieve. He has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers as a Texas Rising Star for 2011.
Ron currently serves as a Director at Large for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Director and Secretary of the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, and Secretary of the Texas Motor Transportation Association, Houston Chapter. He has been a volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for more than fifteen years, a non-profit organization that has raised more than $265 million dollars for college scholarships and educational endeavors since 1932. Ron has risen through the ranks in leadership and currently serves as Chairman on the Horse Show Announcers Committee.
Ron also serves on the Speakers Committee and routinely speaks to high school students, FFA chapters and 4-H Clubs, in addition to business and civic groups about the HLSR Scholarship programs, the history of the Cowboy and Cattle Industry, and Texas Agriculture.
Striking a balance between work and family is not easy, but Ron employs the same tenacious energy that he gives to his clients to his family and enjoys spending time with his wife and their triplet son and two daughters. In his spare time, Ron enjoys working on his family's Quarter Horse and cow-calf operation in Central Texas, hunting and fishing, golf and competing in BBQ cook-offs around the State of Texas.
