Ron Johnson concentrates on labor and employment litigation and related regulatory matters for employers covered by the Railway Labor Act. Ron's clients are principally in the railroad industry, including Class I and regional and short line railroads. He has represented RLA employers in federal court litigation, complex arbitrations, representation matters before the National Mediation Board, safety issues before the Federal Railroad Administration, legislation affecting railroads, and whistleblower complaints under the Federal Rail Safety Act for more than 20 years. Ron also has advised railroad clients on labor and labor protection issues relating to corporate transactions. While serving as a staff counsel with the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee, he worked on legislative matters involving railroads, motor carriers, and natural gas pipelines and producers.
Ron has represented employers in federal court litigation and agency proceedings, including those before the Surface Transportation Board (formerly ICC), DOT, OSHA, the National Mediation Board, and the NLRB. He has argued dozens of federal appellate matters for railroads, including a case before the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the railroad industry.
