Rose Law Firm, a Professional Association, traces its origin from the partnership formed November 1, 1820, before Arkansas' statehood by Chester Ashley (1791-1848), later a U.S. Senator, and Robert Crittenden (1797-1834), Arkansas' first Territorial Secretary. "Rose" first appeared in the firm's name in 1865 when U.M. Rose (1834-1913) joined George C. Watkins (1815-1872), an early Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and previous partner of Ashley. Rose was a founder of the American Bar Association and was elected its president in 1900. Today, the firm provides a broad range of legal services to its individual and corporate clients engaged nationally and internationally in a variety of industries; including consumer products, retailing, forestry, transportation, computer services, insurance, investment banking, poultry and other food products, and financial services. Members of the firm are active in professional organizations and are frequent lecturers in continuing legal education programs. Four of the firm's former members served on the Arkansas Supreme Court, two as Chief Justice. Six former members of the firm have served as President of the Arkansas Bar Association. Members of the firm have also served as United States Bankruptcy Judge, President of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, President of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, President of the Little Rock School Board, Delegate to the Arkansas Constitutional Convention of 1970 and Arkansas State Representative.
