Biography

Ryan Carter is a shareholder practicing primarily in intellectual property law. Ryan helps clients secure intellectual property rights by drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of technologies as well as assisting in trademark, copyright, licensing, and trade secret matters. He also prepares opinions and advises clients on matters involving intellectual property infringement and litigation. Ryan represents business clients ranging from individuals and start-up companies to multinational corporations.

Ryan is actively involved with legal organizations at the state and local level. He served as the president of the Linn County Law Club and the vice president of the Linn Country Bar Association from 2004-2006. He is presently serving as a member of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Division of the Iowa State Bar Association as well as the Membership Committee Chairman for that organization.

Ryan graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in chemistry and then obtained his juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale. Ryan is a patent attorney registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
