Christian Platt is an experienced patent trial lawyer whose practice focuses on complex intellectual property disputes, including patent infringement, trade secret, and licensing disputes. He has tried multiple bench and jury trials. Most recently, he first-chaired a three-week patent trial that resulted in a jury verdict of noninfringement, which was selected as a Top Defense Result of 2015 by The Daily Journal
Christian has represented some of the world's largest technology companies in their most complex patent disputes involving, in many instances, more than a billion dollars in potential damages. He handles a wide variety of technologies, including telecommunications, video games, computer hardware, computer software, networking technologies, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
Christian has been recognized by numerous legal publications including The Legal 500 US where clients describe him as very professional who does a great job presenting [a] case. He has written and spoken extensively on litigation strategy and patent damages. He was selected by the editorial board of Inside the Minds as a leader in intellectual property life sciences law and contributed a chapter to the book Life Sciences Client Strategies (Aspatore, 2007).
Christian holds a chair position on the American Bar Association IP Section Subcommittee on Patent Damages and previously chaired the Subcommittee on Patent Exhaustion. He has chaired the American Intellectual Property Law Association Subcommittee on Patent Damages. He also has served on the board of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and is a member of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association and the Federal Bar Association.
