S. Howard Kline is involved in a range of matters involving pension and profit sharing plans, executive compensation, deferred compensation programs and employee stock ownership plans. His practice involves employee benefit plan issues that arise in the context of both day-to-day business operations as well as corporate acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and other complex transactions. Howard has experience in the development and administration of group health plans, cafeteria plans, disability plans and severance arrangements. His clients include major financial institutions, public utilities, manufacturers and health care providers. Prior to joining Buchanan, Howard served as director of employee benefits at Allegheny International, Inc., where he worked on a range of employee benefits and employment issues. He also has experience in labor negotiations and labor relations. Howard also has previous government experience, having served as counsel to the Pension Task Force in the U.S. House of Representatives and as special counsel to a Pennsylvania State Senate Committee on Municipal Pension Reform. Howard is a native of Pittsburgh.
