Saldaña & Carvajal, P.S.C. was founded in 1996 by Luis N. Saldaña and Ian P. Carvajal, graduates of the Masters of Law program in Maritime and Admiralty Law of Tulane University. Most of the firm's clients are engaged in maritime transportation. However, in order to fully serve the needs of its clients, the firm offers a wide range of legal services. The firm has assisted in solution of legal problems throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. The firm also encourages continuing legal education and participation in professional activities and seminars.

In 2004 the Firm established an affiliation in the form of correspondent law offices in New York City with the law firm of Mound, Cotton, Wollan and Greengrass. The relationship began during the courses of a multi-party insurance coverage action before the courts of Puerto Rico. The successful resolution of the case highlighted the desirability of a continuing affiliation between the two firms. The combined practice areas include maritime law, insurance counseling and litigation, employment law, construction law, commercial litigation, mergers and acquisitions and products liability.
