Sam is a senior patent attorney with more than 30 years' experience in intellectual property law. Chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Business Services Department, his practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, trade secret, trade dress, product configuration and design, domain name, Internet, due diligence, licensing, infringement litigation and other related areas. Throughout his practice, he has guided small, medium and multi-national companies in developing strategies for acquiring, protecting, licensing and enforcing their intellectual property rights worldwide. Sam has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, in conducting infringement evaluations and freedom to operate opinions, and in prosecuting all types of intellectual property infringements, misuse and dilution. His technical focus includes aeronautics, machine tools, plastics, heat exchanger technology, optics, medical devices, mechanical devices of all types, industrial heating and sensing technology, earthmoving equipment, consumer products, footwear and a variety of control system applications. Sam has litigated all types of intellectual property cases, including appeals before the Patent and Trademark Office. Sam joined the firm as a partner in 1999.
