S. Sam Li practices in the areas of intellectual property and competition laws, with a focus on patent, trade secret, antitrust and unfair competition. He also advises clients on a wide range of corporate transactional and compliance matters.
In the area of patent and trade secret, Sam has served as lead counsel for both multinational and domestic Chinese corporations in patent infringement litigations, invalidation proceedings, and disputes over technology licensing agreement. He also represented clients in acquiring technologies, negotiating licensing agreements, and conducting due diligence. Besides litigation and transactional work, Sam advises clients on patent strategy and management of confidential information, including enforcement of confidentiality and non-compete obligations. Sam also does opinion work on freedom-to-operate, infringement, validity and patentability.
In the area of competition law, Sam advises clients on antitrust issues in transactional matters, compliance with antitrust and anti-unfair competition law in business practices, and provides representation before MOFCOM for pre-merger antitrust review.
