| Simon Allan relocated to Moscow from London in February 2011 and is permanently based at the Moscow office as Head of the Goltsblat BLP Banking and Finance Practice. Until recently, Simon headed up BLP's Finance practice and was responsible for its strategic development. He is one of BLP's most senior partners and has been on the BLP Board for the past ten years. Most recently he has been leading a project to develop the firm's finance capability, client relationships and reputation internationally, particularly in emerging markets. As a lawyer, over the last 20 years Simon has advised governments and leading private companies on highly complex transport, defence and urban regeneration projects. In particular, this included: Banking & Finance Simon has many years experience of advising major financial institutions, funders and investors in relation to substantial and highly innovative projects in a range of sectors. Transport Simon has many years experience of working on transport related projects particularly in the rail sector, where he has been involved with metro, light, classic and high speed rail in the UK as well as related infrastructure facilities such as intermodal distribution parks and very significant station redevelopments particularly in major urban centres. He is currently involved in aspects of the UK'S second high speed rail project and in particular issues associated with Heathrow airport. Defence Simon leads the firm's defence practice, which is one of the leading defence industry groups, representing a range of global defence corporates and government bodies on issues associated with the defence sector, both locally and internationally. Urban regeneration Over the last 20 or so years Simon has advised governments and private sector entities on some of the largest and most complex urban development and regeneration projects including the firm's work for the Olympic Development Authority for London 2012 as well as iconic buildings such as the O2 centre. PPP Simon has been involved in the PPP market since its inception and has structured and lead a large number of these projects in a range of sectors including, education, healthcare, transport, housing , defence and government accommodation and has represented the full range of market participants from sovereign states to their counterparties and funding institutions. |
