Simon Johnson has a barrister's practice that includes administrative and professional discipline proceedings, civil litigation and arbitration, and criminal and regulatory proceedings. His clients include professionals, public bodies, and major corporations. He appears regularly before all levels of courts in Alberta and a wide range of administrative tribunals including the College of Physicians and Surgeons, police disciplinary hearings, and the Alberta Law Enforcement Review Board.

Simon has a particular interest and expertise in "multiple jeopardy" situations, where he acts for clients who face concurrent civil, regulatory, administrative, and/or criminal proceedings. Simon's experience across these different areas allows him to co-ordinate and execute effective strategies to manage the full range of legal exposures faced by his clients, as well as reputation management concerns. Prior to entering private practice, Simon was an Assistant Crown Attorney with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. He continues to act regularly as both a prosecutor and as defence counsel. With his background in criminal justice, Simon also has a particular interest in police law and represents and advises police services in a broad range of matters.

Simon's civil litigation and arbitration practice includes medical malpractice defence and commercial disputes related to major industrial facilities and energy companies. He has extensive experience in matters involving complex medical, scientific, and engineering evidence.

Simon is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education and continuing medical education programs. He also instructs law students and articling students in trial and appellate advocacy.
