Stephen A. Stallings is a partner and has over 17 years of construction law experience in the representation of both private and public owners, contractors, subcontractors, sureties, and developers and has been responsible for the management and trial and arbitration of complex matters throughout the United States involving claims in excess of $100 million. His experience and knowledge of construction law has been honed from a wide variety of projects, such as the construction of cable television systems, hotels, high-rise office and residential buildings, transportation facilities and the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant. Besides his litigation practice, he also has extensive experience with the negotiation and drafting of contracts and other documents commonly associated with construction projects. Mr. Stallings' success in the representation of contractors is due, in part, to his practice of supporting his clients during the entire construction process -- from the development of construction documents through a project's conclusion -- as the key to avoiding litigation and achieving the best overall results. Recognizing that problems are inherent in any construction project, he counsels clients so that they achieve the maximum returns at the lowest possible cost. As not all construction problems and disputes can be resolved amicably, Mr. Stallings' involvement with a project coupled with his knowledge of the issues that face the industry and his experience has ensured that his client's rights are protected to the fullest extent possible. Prior to joining Peckar & Abramson, he was a partner at Sacks Montgomery, P.C., a New York City law firm specializing in construction law litigation. Mr. Stallings is admitted to practice in the state courts of New York and Connecticut along with the federal courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the District of Connecticut and the Western District of Michigan. Mr. Stallings graduated cum laude from St. John's School of Law in 1989 where he was a member of the St. John's Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Kentucky in 1980. |
