| Biography | Steve Baker is a partner at Waller Lansden. He has extensive experience in the areas of real estate law, finance, banking and title insurance. Mr. Baker is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward White, Inc.) for his work in real estate law. Mr. Baker represented a national hospital company in the simultaneous sale of more than 100 medical office buildings located in multiple states throughout the country. Mr. Baker's representation in this transaction involved the legal separation of the buildings from the hospital campuses; development of comprehensive declarations of covenants, easements and restrictions; and the negotiation of a $200 million loan. Recently, Mr. Baker also provided counsel in the $62 million development and syndication of a Texas hospital and medical office building, and he also assisted with the real estate issues associated with the divestiture of a major retail insurance subsidiary. Mr. Baker currently represents real estate developers in the planning and structure of large-scale, mixed-use developments. He also is representing developers in the establishment of a variety of condominium. Mr. Baker also represents lending institutions in foreclosure and real estate work out matters, and he provides counsel to homeowner associations in connection with document interpretation, dispute settlement and litigation avoidance. Frequently, Mr. Baker speaks at seminars and trade association meetings on healthcare-related real estate issues, condominium and planned unit developments, real estate development workouts, boundary law and easements, real property taxes and title insurance.
