Stephen D.A. Clark is a partner in our Financial Services Group in Toronto. His practice focuses on financial institutions and corporate finance. Mr. Clark regularly acts for financial institutions. He has broad experience in all aspects of the regulatory framework applicable to banks, foreign banks and trust companies in Canada. Mr. Clark also has extensive experience in acting for banks on the acquisition of financial institutions and their subsequent integration into the bank, the purchase and sale of branches, credit card portfolios and other financial assets. He also advises banks on their capital markets activities, secured lending and other credit and restructuring matters. By virtue of acting on a regular basis for financial institutions, Mr. Clark sits on a committee of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, chaired by the Deputy Superintendent, dealing with banks and insurance regulatory matters. He appears in both the 2007 and 2008 editions of Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of banking and finance. Mr. Clark is also listed in the 2007 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a guide to the leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, as a leading lawyer in the area of financial institutions regulation. He has been head of the Business Law Section at the Bar Admission Course in Ontario. In addition, Mr. Clark has chaired and participated in numerous conferences and has written on corporate finance, banking law, corporate lending and secured transactions. He received his LLB from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the Ontario bar in 1978, and the Alberta bar in 1982. |
