Stephen "Steve" Beiser is a member of the firm's New Orleans office. He was a casualty and insurance defense litigator from 1984-1989. Since 1989, Steve has practiced labor and employment law, exclusively representing management interests. His primary area of concentration is employment litigation. Steve has litigated federal and state claims of race, sex, age, disability, religious and political discrimination, breach of contract, wrongful termination, defamation, harassment, infliction of emotional distress, whistleblower, Warn Act, employee benefits and abuse of rights claims, wage and hour claims, family and medical leave claims, unfair labor practices, class actions and non-compete disputes. He has also represented clients before the EEOC, NLRB, OSHA, the DOL, the State Department of Insurance and the NASD. Steve has handled appeals before the State and Federal Courts of Appeal and has had several published state and federal court opinions. In addition to his litigation experience in state and federal courts, Steve's practice includes commercial litigation and regulatory law. He has represented individual clients and trade associations before the Louisiana Public Service Commission, New Orleans City Council, Alcoholic Beverage Commission and various other administrative agencies and governmental entities. Steve has been a contributor to the journal HRNews, which is published by the Society for Human Resource Management. He has also presented seminars and speeches on a variety of labor and employment issues in continuing legal education seminars and bar associations, as well as before corporate management.
