Practice/Industry Group Overview

Steptoe & Johnson PLLC's education team is experienced in working with public and private educators to help them find effective solutions to legal challenges that they face every day. Team members are familiar with educators' needs as well as the legal climate in which they must operate and provide counsel that is proactive as well as cost efficient.

Some of our areas of experience include employment-related counseling, litigating employment-related disputes in state and federal courts, handling employee grievances, responding to complaints filed with the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, investigating sexual harassment complaints in both the student and employment context, litigating special education due process claims both at the administrative level and on appeal, mediations, and writing and reviewing policies.
