Sue is responsible for guiding the firm and its attorneys in meeting the standards of ethical law practice. She supervises the firm's conflicts of interest review process and new business intake functions and provides counsel for the firm as a business entity. Sue assists in directing the firm's orientation and continuing educational programs related to lawyers' professional responsibilities, duties of confidentiality and loyalty, conflicts of interest, and attorney/client privilege. She is considered an authority on conflicts of interest and client engagements and has presented on those topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Aon Large Law Firm Symposium and other legal education programs. Sue also provides guidance to the firm's lawyers and administrators regarding ethical obligations, legal compliance, professional liability risk management, and multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary aspects of the firm's practice, and counsels lawyers seeking to join the firm. With Buchanan from the beginning of her career in 1977 through 1988, Sue concentrated her practice in securities law, corporate finance and general business advising. Her transactional practice included mergers and acquisitions and public and private securities offerings. In 1984, Sue was one of the first two women elected as a shareholder of Buchanan.
